I havent been able to blog since the year begun. It feels bad when there is so much to write, well i have been pretty busy since the new year working and school and doing some local trips. I had exams just days after new year and they went pretty well, well some of them. So much has happened now i have two friends around and we went to the World Cultural Centre in Göteborg. Pretty interesting stuff down there.

Everytime am in Göteborg it brings back so many memories, see that was the first town i visited, just a day after arriving in Sweden. I love it so much:) Well on our recent visit we managed to attend a couple of activities, one of my majour interest was the Haitian Vodou... My prayers go out to all the haitians ofcourse especially those who lost there families, properties can always be recovered but not a loved one. I totally support the cause of helping Haiti and hope that they can recover from all the calamities.

What did i learn from the festival ? Well lets talk about the artefacts changed with power; Vodou has its origins in the traditions of Haitian slaves. Vodou has always been the religion of the poor and the vulnerable. Slave owners had whips and instruments of torture, the colonial power had armies and cannons. The leaders of military dictatorships had soldiers and guns. I'll share afew pics from the exhibition abit scary but never mind.. i hope you enjoy.

The vulnerable have had a magic as their weapon. They have relied on poison from plants and the help of spirits to defend themselves and to conduct their battle. Artefacts can be charged with power, the souls of opponents (zombies) can be directed and harmed with the aid of poisons and black magic. Well, i was surprised when i learnt that most catholics actually believe in Vodou. More than 50% of Vodou practioners are catholics, and some african countries especially in the west practise the same.

Thats me trying to be a witch but it didnt work, i was trying to make a scary pose... thats the best i could come up with:) ha.. How many believe in Vodou? I would love to know.... i would definately reserve my views about it.
Its valentines people and Chineese New Year... so to my Chinese friends congratulations and to you all Happy Vals.:)
